Day One

I'm currently editing Take Back Texas, the first trilogy in my Ursula Bain Mystery Series.

The series is set in Houston's hip Museum District on the campus of braintrusty Rice University, where freethinking Ursula Bain works as a Dilbert office grunt in the Grants Office.

When Ursula's student helper is murdered in the Rice quad, she faces off with attorney Bronc Bambridge in a race to solve the crime.  As Ursula searches for clues, she discovers that Houston Oil Barron Truett Smollett and the Texas Mexican Mafia are locked in a deadly turf war, battling for control of the Houston Museum District.
As the body count rises and racial tensions in H-Town skyrocket, Ursula calls on her wacky evangelical roommates, beefcake friends with benefits, and techno-psychic gig at Jewel’s Metaphysical Bookshop to track down the serial killer, find just the right Louboutins, and save academia, all before lunch.
Through it all, Ursula gains the courage to confront her boss, overcomes her fear of public speaking, and learns the true value of annoying evangelical roommates, confirming what she knew deep down all along:  friends with benefits are forever, Volvos never die, and Yurman never goes out of style.
